Post Your PC!
« on: May 02, 2007, 04:05:54 PM »
What's a forum without a 'Post Your PC Specs' thread?!
That wasn't a joke; I'm being serious!!

Post the specifications of your machine here so we can laugh/cry at them?!

Ouch.
I guess I should post my computer specs, seeing as I started the thread!!

Quote
Pentium D945 Dual Core 3.4GHz Processor
2 GB DDR2 533MHz SDRAM
ATI Radeon X600 w/ TV Out
320GB (partitioned into 280GB and 40GB)
USB Hi-Speed Media Card Reader
Bluetooth Wireless Mouse and Keyboard
19'' Flat Panel LCD Montior
TV Tuner Card
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio
Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer
16X DVD-ROM Drive
16X DVD +/-RW with Dual Layer Write capabilities

Yeah that's the basics... Any more information and you'll have to ask specifically...

Gotta say that you really can't go wrong with my computer; aside from the minor fact it is a Dell. Though saying that Dell's seem to have somewhat of a strange reputation, I was told they were problematic as hell and have never had a problem with mine?!

Intel P4 830 (3.0Ghz Dual Core)
2gb GeiL 667Mhz Ultra ram
200gb sata
160gb sata
nvidia 7800gt 256mb
19" Sony Trinitron CRT monitor
asus p5wd2 premium mobo
sony dru810a dvd burner
logitech elite keyboard
logitech mx510 mousey
pioneer headphones
thermaltake shark case 430watt

need to replace fan on grapho card, bloody thing makes 80% of my pc noise.
also i need a new monitor, this one was good 2 years ago but now the colours aren't as bright as they once were, has a s***ty green tinge to it, subtle, but fatal when doing lighting in animations.

AMD athlon 64 X2 3800+ dual core
some half decent ASUS mobo
3GB DDR-RAM (pretty sure its not DDR2)
nvidia geforce 7600 GS
creative soundblaster audigy2
some pioneer dual layer DVD burner
some LG dual layer DVD burner
too much (or maybe not enough?!) hdd space:
2x western digital 300GB sata hdds set up in a basic RAID
160GB seagate parallel hdd
80GB seagate parallel hdd
160 maxtor external hdd
antec 1080AMG ATX case, 430w antec truepower PSU
19" mitsubishi diamond view CRT monitor
old old old boston acoustics 2.1 pc speakers (back from when i bought my first pc - a gateway... ahhhahaha) still some of the best pc speakers ive heard
some s***ty keyboard, a sweet logitech mouse that barely works, and a wacom intuos3 9x12"

like you with the monitors Jabba_Wocky, so sick of my CRT! im upgrading to DELL TFT monitors asap!  but heres my predicament....  do i get 2x 20" screens, or one 24"?????  this is a serious question! ive always wanted dual screens to work on, but with the 24" is soooo much better for movies/hooking it up as a TV (has s-video and composite inputs)

i'd go for the dual screen. i've found when working with a dual screen system productivity is much more smoother. Then again you could get the single 24" and use your existing CRT as the second monitor. I mean who could say no to watching a movie while playing a game, or that training dvd.

BLASPHEMY! i couldnt handle having a beautiful 24" widescreen TFT next to a hideous CRT...  its just not right!

besides im a tad obsessive compulsive and would hate having 2 screens that werent the same model anyway.  HA!

im thinking of going the dual 20"

Crappy Rig! I choose YOU! (With running commentary)

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.01 GHz (HT tech I think.)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (originally had a Radeon 9200 SE that died on me.)
120Gb Western Digital Internal HDD
320Gb Western Digital External HDD
1Gb DDR SDRAM
AOC 19" LCD Monitor (integrated speakers are woot!)
LG DVD Burner (Not sure of speeds)
Random Gigabyte motherboard (integrated sound is woot!)
Random 500 (or 550) watt power supply
Logitech Media Keyboard Elite
Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000
Wacom Intuos3 4x6 (need to get a larger one.)

As you can see, I don't know too much about my computer but it's served me well for two or three-plus years... too bad it's crappy for the now. :D

That's sounds like one beast of a system in terms of the disk space and graphics card/s(?)
Just out of curiosity; what elements of it are you upgrading/replacing with what??

May as well jump on the bandwagon;

Machine 1: The Warhorse of Jim:

Pentium D 3.4ghz Dual Core,
3 Gig of DDR2 RAM
800gig HD space (2x 250gig RAID, 1 300 gig)
Apple 21" Cinema Display (It's heresy, I know, but more than a few people have expressed interest in stealing it)
2x GeForce 7900GTs (256mb)
Pioneer 16x DVD burner
600 Watt Power supply
Wireless LAN

Machine 2: The Render Slave:

Pentium D 3.2ghz Dual Core
3 Gig of DDR2 RAM
500gig HD space (2x 250 gig)
Sony 19" LCD glass panel display
2x GeForce 7800 GTs (256 meg)
Pioneer 16x DVD Burner... which has lost the ability to burn disks. :P
600 Watt Power Supply

And then there's the laptop... but we'll not go there.

...I really need a bigger desk.
