Community Projects / Re: Introduce Yourself!
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:39:43 PM »
hello my name is Scott Hogan and i am from Bathurst NSW. I spent two years at TAFE doing a digital media course because my UAI sucked and i couldn't get in to uni. While i was there i learned some flash, very basic 3D and that TV production is evil. it was those two years that really got me interested in animation and this was the only course that had everything i wanted to do. I am pretty much interested in 2D and 3D animation although stop motion is becoming decidedly interesting. I would like to get work in the games industry when i finish or even spend some time doing short films if i can get the chance to do them.

I think that the festival was great and i believe that CSU should continue to support it because, it is good for us animation student's to be exposed to the variety that available for us in our chosen medium. And it also shows us the kind of things that we can aspire to achieve in the future.

« on: May 08, 2007, 03:09:57 PM »
My music tastes are... Strange I have a little bit of every thing in my collection, metal, classical, blues, jazz, rock, industrial, pop, a small amount of rap and country, and an unseemly number of anime soundtracks.
Current Favorites (in no order)
  • Of Wolf and Man - Metallica
  • Waiting for the Sun - Powderfinger
  • Superbeast - Rob Zombie
  • Tank - Yoko Kanno
  • Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima - Krzysztof Penderecki/PolishNational Symphony Orchestra
  • The Light Before we Land - Unknown Artist
  • Little Miss - BOA
  • Salva Nos - Yuki Kajiura
  • Silent Hill - Akira Yamaoka and Rika Muranaka
  • Mad World - Tears for Fears
strange no?

I use iTunes for music and Quicktime for video. But finding Quicktime Codecs is annoying.

Comparisons / Re: PC/Mac Users
« on: May 03, 2007, 12:32:15 PM »
I'm a Mac user and i must tell you of the seductive power of the White side. I switched because i had serious Windows problems... Namely every program i have used on a PC has crashed on me. I will admit i did not like Mac's at first everything was so confusing, (were is the Start menu?) but now it makes more sense than windows ever did. (who needs a Start menu?) And best of all no more viruses that alone was worth the switch. Yes there aren't many games but i have a Micro$oft xbox 360 so its no big loss.

Animate (Flash) / Re: Movie and Graphic symbols
« on: May 03, 2007, 11:47:05 AM »
The problem with movie symbols is that they have a nasty habit of not working when you export as something other than a .swf. When you do the movie symbol will sit on its first frame and do nothing. You might be able to get around it but I haven't figured out hoe yet.
