It was the only logical progression for this topic... the original thread was pretty messed up to begin with.

I have no idea how anybody could assume psycopathic nature from an interest in how the internal organs of animals work... BUT interestingly enough in the documentary that was mentioned (tying in with the original subject) Von Hagens does infact liken himself to Walt Disney.

His analogy comes in response to the question about what his Body-Worlds exhibition explores, he states that Walt Disney began a generational love affair with the moving image, and that by making these things readily available he sold the entire world on the concept of animation. Von hagens is the 'Walt disney' of anatomical science, as he instituionalizes a dormant love affair with the intricate workings of the human body. By having these anatomical specimens on display the average person can view and become intrigued. Hence he, like Walt Disney before him have taken a subject matter and created a conversation between creator and viewer.

Interesting way of percieving his art, and a fair analogy really in my opinion. On that note, has anyone seen his latest series of public anatomical dissections on disease? They have been very interesting, tackling cancers and what not and showing how they interact inside the body. Ofcourse the squemish should not watch, but it is definately more than side alley or freakshow in nature, absolutely fantastic series.

I had no idea he has a new series. I could easily Google it but I'll just ask here for the sake of it - when's it on?

Interesting. I looked it up and the follow-up series was about disease and such. Apparently Channel 4 are hoping to commission new programs involving the Von Hagens.
