3Delight for Maya
« on: December 24, 2010, 10:30:13 AM »
Hey guys,

I just downloaded a render engine called '3Delight for Maya.' It is a Renderman standard renderer, and has all of the fancy bells and whistles as Renderman, but 100% less in price. That's right, it's free! And has been used in numerous feature films like Superman Returns. I haven't used it yet but it certainly sounds good. Here's a render for you using it.

Please note that the render is only free for the first license, and only at rendering at two threads, but it is a fully commercial license, so it's still an awesome deal.
Just in case people were wondering, it stands for 'At The Convenience Of The Experimenter.'

And now... this!

Looks interesting but with 2 threads.. could add a fair bit of time to your renders. There is an alternative coming to the labs in 2011, stay tuned.

Yeah, probably healthier for your still images; unless it's a short sequence short might be smarter to stick to Mental Ray.
