Hi Bex,
We sorted this out in the workshop but for the benefit of anyone else, just RMB (right mouse-button click) over the object and select Material Attributes… This should open the Shader tab for the selected object. :)

So how do lecturers/professions do it? How do they acquire the smart-arse breadth, depth, confidence and currency of technical mastery in so many specialist applications in a hectic fast-paced constantly evolving industry? Want to rapidly learn the same software and vastly improve your art/craft, assignments, portfolio and CV? As you can guess, I’m about to say farewell to a recent selection of core textbooks employed in the Animation and Visual Effects degree on a first come, first served basis. Feel free to compare the sale prices to anywhere online and see what a bargain these books really are. These books can be picked up during consultation hours or after regular class/workshop times. All volumes are in mint condition and come with the original DVD’s.

Okay, this is the final offer before the sale goes outside of the course. These books are essential texts for anyone doing VFX105 (Introducing Autodesk Maya 2013), VFX105/VPA319 (Advanced Maya Texturing and Lighting) or elective subjects (Adobe Illustrator CS5 Classroom in a Book) now or next year. So if you don’t already own these books and wonder why your work looks so amateur; here’s the solution! Students can approach me over the next days but don’t delay as these books can make a HUGE positive impact to the quality of your final images.

Maya / Autodesk Technology Preview: Project Pinocchio
« on: October 10, 2013, 03:25:52 AM »
Project Pinocchio is a free* technology preview that leverages Autodesk's powerful 3D design and animation tools to provide you with a web-based laboratory where you can create fully-rigged custom 3D characters. Design a creation of your own or modify existing stock characters using a variety of pre-defined body types, facial features, and clothing styles for inclusion in 3D games, animations, and scenes.

Using a web browser and Project Pinocchio, you can create, customize, and download your very own rigged 3D characters from a catalog of over 100 body types, outfits, hairstyles, and physical attributes in a few simple steps. Once you create a character, you can use it in a variety of Autodesk modeling tools to create imagery and movies.

AVAILABILITY
This technology preview is available until December 31, 2013 after which the web portal may come down.

* Free technology previews are subject to the terms and conditions of the end-user license and services agreement on the web site.

Maya / Extension for Autodesk Maya® 2014 Preview
« on: August 16, 2013, 11:51:01 AM »
Hiya Maya fans,

As many of you have noticed, we’ve been pushing the Animation and Visual Effects curriculum into an internationally competitive framework so that students can lead instead of follow on the technical boundaries of their finished films. This requires smart adaptive study techniques but the results should prove tremendous if adopted. This post is simply to encourage students to delve deep into Maya and appreciate its incredible creative capacity before being further empowered with the next release. With that said, I’d like to draw your attention that what may be possible at the end of September so enjoy! :D
