Post by: JimWard on May 01, 2007, 05:43:21 PM
Man is it quiet here...

Well, today seems as good a time as any,

Here's a link to the tutorial I did for MPI303 on Adobe Photoshop;

That turns out pretty damn cool...
I dread the day when i have to do a tutorial. Good stuff.
And I totally agree with this sentiment... I generally do stuff without really focusing on how I do it step-by-step!!

I notice your process is indeed very similar to that of Greg Martins, a photoshop user whom practically specialises in creation of space scenes. For the benefit of others who are looking to create space scenes such as those described in your tutorial I have included links below to his tutorials.

Your tutorial itself is very helpful my only complaint being that if you are to create a photoshop tutorial it is always an idea to set your workspace to default, as in the first section on making a planet some of your screen positions arent. It is a small thing to pick at, but in the grand scheme of things in future you should do it.

Regardless it has inspired me to make something and I think I will have a go at the underwater look you have created.

I've seen Greg Martin's work before. His work is unreal, and I wouldn't dare compare my work to his. Aye carumba...

That said; wow, the technique is similar. (Seriously, this I did not notice before.) Although I notice he has a few extra steps than I do and/or alters several steps.

Nice link though.

Yeh, they definately are distinct ways of making planets, but they share some similarities. Thats the beauty of photoshop really is that there is several ways in which to come about similar results, ultimately that there is so many ways to do the same thing. Hence my love affair with the program, ha ha ha.
