'IN CINDERS LIE' - Actors Honors project
« on: October 24, 2007, 11:32:14 PM »

Thurs-Sat, October 25-27
Charles Sturt University Acting Studio
Forget glass slippers and fairygodmothers! This exciting new production takes a dark look at two classic tales interwoven in a way never seen before; what if you were to transport Cinderella to Denmark? And what if you were to take Hamlet, make him a woman- a woman degraded and tortured by her new stepmother Queen Claudius?

Taking examples from Cinderella tales from all over the world, the glass slipper and fairy godmother are eschewed for the older and wilder tales from many cultures- and these stories are told using the immortal words of the bard.

Following in the footsteps of other such famous Hamlet retellings- such as the Dogg's Troupe Hamlet, Skinhead Hamlet, and Fox in Socks Prince of Denmark- this new multimedia production, In Cinders Lie, meshes the tales of Hamlet and Cinderella, and asks questions of destiny, revenge, choices and fear.

Performed and devised by local Wagga performers Hanna Cormick and Kylie-Chay Mackenzie (as seen together in the recent productions Long Gone Lonesome Cowgirls and Irreconcilable Differences), with direction from CSU and RADA graduate Michelle Gaul, this production is the culmination of the performers' honours degrees in Acting for Screen and Stage at Charles Sturt University.
We hope to see you there!

Just because you can, it doesn't mean you should.

Unless its cool.
