PC / Re: Safari for Windows

Because in Safari 1 and 2 you have to enable Tab browsing in the preferences (Safari/Preferences/Tabs...) Although every time you log out the CSU computers change the preferences back to there default settings (I don't know... that's just how CSU keep control of the Macs)

Safari 3 (Beta) has tabbed browsing enabled as a default preference (Remember that its still in Beta testing). Mac say that Safari is 1.6 times faster than Fire fox and 2 times faster than IE. http://www.apple.com/au/safari/

I think the main reason Apple have developed it for windows is because of the iPhone it runs the full version of Safari and just like iTunes is linked to the iPod well you cant use a iPod unless you have iTunes.

Mac / GarageBand

GarageBand 3.0.4 (comes with iLife when you buy a new mac).

It supports Video so you can put sound to your animation in time, and has a lot of sounds and effects ready to use.

This is for anyone who needs to add sound to there animation and are working on a Mac at home, or the lap is closed. You can put sound/effects to your animation at the correct time. If you want more control then get the time code for were you want each track to start and end and put the sounds into Audition in the lab when its open.

Having CSU support the "Australian International Animation Festival" makes perfect sense. As we are the only university providing a dedicated course in animation and special effects, it would be crazy if we were to lose this event to any other institution. It wouldn't mean we simply lose the show we would also lose the credibility of being a leading school in animation and visual effects. As Australia is becoming more and more recognized as a serious contender in the animation world, i feel that by having CSU and Wagga at the center of it all would be so beneficial to help get CSU's name on a world scale. I belive its short sighted to take poor ticket sales from theh Wagga show to be used as the gauge for "success". As the general public want to see the next Happy feet" not some unknown animation. This festival is a great "success" to all the animation and multimedia students. As i see it in the long term the University will gain so much more from this event apart from ticket sales. As we all know from litlle things, big things grow.
