couldn't you just apply a texture to a plane? use a .png texture file so you can get the transparency.

After Effects / Re: New Question!
« on: June 10, 2009, 03:30:16 AM »

I duplicated the film layer, and when i added the effect instead of having the settings set to "add", I changed them to "None" which basically stopped the layer the effect was on showing up.... if that makes sense lol

After Effects / New Question!
« on: June 10, 2009, 03:19:12 AM »
Okay, so what I want to do is track an effect on a seperate layer to the footage. Ideally i'd like this effect on its own layer.

I have tracked two spots on the footage, and I want to make and effect on a new layer and parent it to the tracking (null layer) so that it stays in the right spot...
Am i just being a total n00b tonight? Because I have been stuffing around for at least half an hour, wasting my time trying to figure out how to make it work.
I tried adding the effect to shape layers, text layers, null object layers... I even saved a HD transparent void out from photoshop hoping that it would help....but it doesn't seem to have helped....
Im getting annoyed!

The effect Im trying to use is "CC Light Ray". I think it may need to be placed on the actual footage to work properly... because i just tried a different effect (some random "beam" effect) and it worked... :(

Can anyone help me out plz??  :-\

This site is really coooool!
You have to help tooly the toolbox find his tools, and you can scroll around the whole page and find various creatures doing various things...
it really is quite random.  ;D
To inspire you further I thought i would supply you with a still image (screen shot) from the site you can zoom in and scroll around, and the little animations make noises and do crazy things.
Its how I imagine Robs brain to be ;) (heh!)

(the link was wrong for some reason ?? but its now been changed  to the right site ;D)

 ;D Hello All!

This topic is basically to express my rather annoying enthusiasim for this new year! I feel much like a cheery person in the morning... yuck..

As has become tradition over the past couple of years, we all introduce ourselves to the first years nerd style (meaning, on the forum) and then they tell us who they are and where they're from, its all a bunch of fun  ;D

So, I shall go first...

I am Pam also known as "Spam" (im a forum junky! for proof, check my post count).
I'm a 3rd year animation & vfx student! I'm from Dubbo originally but am living off campus in Wagga....
I just turned 21, and no longer have P plates! I'm short and annoying and somewhat antisocial. I like driving, maccas and Anime and would some day love to marry Vegeta  8) (Dragon Ball Z for those who don't know). I talk lots on the forum but am usually pretty quiet in person until you get to know me, or you catch me on a good day! You will most likely see me around, short purple haired nerd *thats me* I basically live in the labs, it really is quite sad  :-\

This course is awesome, and you guys are in for a lot of fun! (a lot of work, but a lot of fun!)

Please don't be intimidated by us, if you need help don't hesitate to ask one of us! We're really quite nice when it's not assessment week  ;D

One last spasm of excitement:
[spasm] zomg!! animation festival is getting closer!! AND I'm a 3rd year! HOW did that happen!!! [/spasm]

CSU General / Re: 3rd year subjects???

i picked creative writing for the elective studio minor , it seemed to be the only thing that didn't clash with VPA106 or VFX301.
it was that or TV production.
Creative writing subject code is LIT221 and its on 9-12 on Wednesday, e-mail the lecturer if you're interested in enrolling in it.

does that help mettty?

(yes, i realise he is only a dual core, not too happy with quad cores just yet :P go ahead and call me crazy  :P but a good dual core is better than a middle of the range quad in my opinion  :-[ and plus, I didn't really have much money to spend.)

Heres whats in my beast:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400/ 3.00GHz/ 6MB Cache/ 1333FSB/ LGA775
