Salus Journal’s Submission Guidelines for International Authors

Submissions

We invite from international scholars to submit articles in the range of 3,000 to 5,000 words for double-blind peer review.   This word count relates to the manuscript’s total words, including abstract, notes and references.  You can submit your manuscript by emailing it in MS Word format to the Editor-in-Chief but first check that it complies with provisions set out in the journal’s style guide.  By emailing your manuscript you agree to be bound by the journal’s publication ethics and malpractice standards.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Standards

Salus Journal is committed to maintaining best practice in publishing ethics.  Before submitting your manuscript for review, please read the journal’s ethical guidelines for submissions.  By submitting your article you agree that your manuscript adheres to these standards.

Style Guide

To achieve a consistent style across all submissions, Salus Journal follows the APA style referencing (the journal does not use footnotes).  All submissions need to adhere to the requirements laid-out in the journal’s style guide.

Review Process

All articles, essays and critical/analytic papers are double-blind peer reviewed by independent referees.  Referees will comment on manuscript and the Editor-in-Chief will review comments.  The criteria for evaluating submissions are:

  • importance of the topic discussed in the article;
  • contribution to the field of inquiry or the debate in the literature;
  • quality of the ideas presented;
  • quality of the writing;
  • relevance of the references cited; and/or
  • appropriateness of methodology and/or theoretical framework (if applicable).

The review time is usually three to five weeks from the time your manuscript is received.  A recommendation will be made to the author(s) as to whether or not the original or a revised article based on the peer review process will be accepted for publication.  If the article requires amendments, it will be scheduled to appear in the next issue of the journal.

Permissions

All articles submitted to Salus Journal are accepted on the basis that they do not contain classified material – Salus Journal will not knowingly publish any classified information.  It is also understood that authors have obtained permission to use copyright material from the copyright owner.  Therefore, by submitting a manuscript for review, authors indemnify Salus Journal, its editorial staff, and Charles Sturt University for any civil or criminal liability that might arise from such omissions, or by not obtaining agency/client permission to including sensitive material in their paper.
